The Unfortunate Death of Lyrics...

Hellooooooo internet!!

So, I am here to discuss the unfortunate death of song lyrics that I have recently experienced.
Oh, trust me, I knew there was lyrical murder occuring in the industry, but I had no idea it was this bad.
Recently, in my Driver's Ed class...
I got a sunburn!!
Okay, Okay, back to my point.

There is this one female who continuously blasts "music" from her phone. Clearly, this female has never heard of headphones, or a volume down button. Therefore, I have been forced to be subjected to her lack of taste.
Anyways... Please continue reading for future enjoyment (or lack thereof).

Example of amazing lyrics written by Leonard Cohen:
Well I heard there was a secret chord that David played, and it pleased the Lord,
but you don't really care for the music, do ya?
Well it goes like this, the fourth, the fifth,
The minor fall, then the major lift,
The baffled king composing hallelujah

Here you get this amazing visual of David playing his guitar (or harp. I've heard it both ways.), playing this "secret chord", then you get the musical theory of the chord. I don't know many songs where you're told "This is the fourth. This is the fifth, and this is the minor fall." Pretty awesome, and the song just gets better from there. It can not be disputed that Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" is a classic.

Actually, I could put any of a thousand songs there. Trust me, I've got an iPod full.

Example of a "song" I had to listen to via my musically challenged classmate:
I just had sex. (repeat)

WOULD SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME HOW THIS IS CONSIDERED MUSIC?!?!?!?!?

There is no poetic beauty, the beat behind it was terrible, and it is totally devoid of any sense of moral values!

Song Lyrics have now been murdered. I shall forever lay flowers at the grave of "Hallelujah" and "Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For".

Let us scatter their ashes over a beautiful ocean at sunrise.

If you can figure out this mystery, please comment.

For I am befuddled beyond reason.

See, THAT is why I get angered at the music industry.
I'm not hating on rap and hip-hop, and if you take this post that way, my apologies.
Lecrae and KB all the way!!!
But it is "songs" like this that make me want to crawl in a wardrobe and move to Narnia. Forever.

And that is my lovely rant for the day. :D

Peace, Love, and Jesus!

  3. Just did a response to your blog. It was pretty long for just a comment, so I was like, I'm writing this much, I'm just gonna do a response blog:p Do two things at once.

Here's the link to the post. Had some issues getting it to work -rolls eyes- but it's all good now. I hope.
